50 Day Song Challenge – #50 Your favourite song of all time

The Kinks: Strangers 1970

My all-time favourite song, co-incidentally written by my all-time favourite musician, Dave Davies.

50 Day Song Challenge – #48 song you loved this time last year

Groovy Movies: Dave Davies, 1969
Dave Davies taking the lead on this one. I loved it in 1969, last year, and love it now too.

50 Day Song Challenge – #28 A song you love because of the lyrics

davidwattsdavidwattsjamDavid Watts – The Jam 1978

Actually, this is just another excuse to mention The Kinks.  This is a real teen snarl, full of envy and descending into rude words about the perfect friend (frenemy?) (I wish I could weeeeeeeee like David Watts..)

I really like The Jam’s version of this – but you know what, I’m giving you original 1967 Kinks version too. AND Dave’s rambunctious live version from 1997.

50 Day Song Challenge #23 A song you always play before a night out

She’s Got Everything – Dave Davies

Originally released by The Kinks in 1968 as the B-side to “Days”.

This is Dave Davies solo and live from 1997, but any version of this song will do for a spot of self-affirmation before going out to face the world.
